The building has existed for more than 20 years, and was once an office. Situated in the busy part of the city, the management decided to open a restaurant. After two years renovating and looking for the "right" theme, it was finally launched on March 1, 2008.

While Oranje [O-ra-nye] is taken from Dutch word meaning orange colour. It is also the name of the Dutch Royal family and has been the colour of the Dutch football team.
